Stylistically it’s as big a shift as OneRepublic‘s No Vacancy was from Oh My My, keeping the electronic aspect but as part of a sing-along hit single type of deal that is sure to be a crowdpleaser. One Foot is the result of their decision to continue as a band and keep making music as Walk the Moon.

Talking about the song, lead singer Nicholas Petricca said it’s the outcome of the uncertain state the band got into after the last album where they weren’t sure they’d stay together at all. But that’s all in the past now and here’s a new single by Walk the Moon called ‘One Foot’. Walk the Moon (the album) was more definitely a pure indie rock record not unlike Two Door Cinema Club, Youngblood Hawke, Young the Giant, or even Paramore‘s After Laughter with Talking Is Hard, a ton of electronics came in that maybe I wasn’t prepared for. Whether it was the more synth-centric sound or… no, that was actually probably it. Not completely, but Talking Is Hard failed to engage me as much as their self-titled did back in 2012. I can also call them one of those bands that somehow lost me with their sophomore release. I can safely call Walk the Moon “one of the old favourites” as they come from the year when I graduated high school.
